Waterloo Road and former Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh and her family have paid tribute to her father David after he sadly passed away.

David was diagnosed with prostate cancer a few years ago, and sadly died peacefully at home at the age of 78 this week.

In a statement issued to the Press Association, the family said: "It is with immense sadness that we confirm the passing of David Marsh.

David appeared on an episode of the BBC's Morning Live in November, which Kym hosted, to talk about his life with prostate cancer and to encourage people to get checked out.

He said that he had good days and bad days, and just took it day by day, while Kym said that the family were focused on making memories with him while they still could, and his illness had brought her and her siblings closer together.

At the time of writing, Kym hasn't posted to social media about David's passing, but at Christmas she did dedicate an Instagram post to him and his wife Pauline, calling the couple "the best parents we could ever have wished for" who never let the kids know how much of a struggle the festive season was for them growing up.
