Prince Charles is currently with the Queen at Balmoral with other members of the royal family traveling to see her.
The news comes after the Queen appointed Liz Truss as the UK's new prime minister at Balmoral on Tuesday, instead of travelling to London for the event.
However, Her Majesty made the decision to pull out of a virtual Privy Council on Wednesday, with doctors advising her to rest.
Upon hearing the news, Truss said in a statement on Twitter: "The whole country will be deeply concerned by the news from Buckingham Palace this lunchtime.
"My thoughts - and the thoughts of people across our United Kingdom - are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family at this time."
Similarly, the leader of the Labour Party Keir Starmer extended well wishes to the Queen.
"Along with the rest of the country, I am deeply worried by the news from Buckingham Palace this afternoon," he wrote. "My thoughts are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family at this time, and I join everyone across the United Kingdom in hoping for her recovery."
The Queen has been residing at her Scottish home for several months, having been on a summer break since July.
2022 has been an eventful year for the Queen as she celebrated her Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years on the throne.
Her Majesty took part in several events to celebrate her title as both the longest-reigning British monarch and the longest-serving female head of state in recorded history.
