Obi-Wan Kenobi star Ewan McGregor has opened up about some "rude" advice he received from Monty Python legend Terry Gilliam.
During a recent interview with GQ, the actor was asked about what type of actor he would like to be in the future and recalled a harsh encounter with director Terry Gilliam who offered the star career advice.
McGregor said of the encounter: "It was quite rude. It's rare that somebody challenges you. But it stuck with me."

According to McGregor, Gilliam didn't agree with the path the Star Wars actor had taken after finding fame in Danny Boyle's film Trainspotting.
"He says, ‘What the f**k have you been doing all this time? You've been underplaying everything. What happened to the guy in Trainspotting? What happened to that guy?!’"

Gilliam's (perhaps unwelcome) advice came after McGregor was given a script for the former's 2018 film The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, which had been in production for 17 years (McGregor did not end up appearing in the film).
It received a standing ovation at Cannes in 2018 but, even after its release, was plagued with legal issues.

The film stars Adam Driver, Jonathan Pryce, Olga Kurylenko and Robert Duvall and first earned its reputation for being cursed after Gilliam struggled to find financial backing when he tried to make the movie in 2000.
The Man Who Killed Don Quixote is based on the novel of the same name by Miguel de Cervantes and tells the tale of an old man who is convinced he is Don Quixote.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is streaming on Disney+. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the entire Skywalker Saga are available on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K now, as well as on Disney+.
