Harry Potter star Jessie Cave has been taken to hospital over a COVID-19-related health scare while in the third trimester of her pregnancy.

Posting a photo of herself in hospital on Instagram, the actor confirmed the news by writing: "Triage, once again… Anyone else had COVID in 3rd trimester & had it hit them like a tonne of bricks for weeks?"

The photo showed her legs lying on a hospital bed with a piece of medical equipment wrapped around her stomach.

Cave announced that she was expecting her fourth child with partner Alfie Brown in early December.

She revealed the news on Instagram, saying: "Can't hide this new baby anymore."

Cave and Brown have been together for over seven years and share seven-year-old Donnie, four-year-old Margot and 14-month-old Abraham.

This is not Cave's first experience with COVID-19, after her youngest son tested positive for the illness last January.

Luckily, Abraham was treated for the virus in hospital and was brought home to the family soon after.

Cave thanked Chelsea & Westminster NHS hospital's "vigilant and cautious" doctors and nurses for looking after her baby.

She said at the time: "Really didn't want this to be the start of my [family's] new year. Really didn't want to be back in a hospital so soon after his traumatic birth. Once again I'm in awe of nurses and doctors..."

Cave is best known for playing Lavender Brown in the final three Harry Potter movies, a Gryffindor student who was infatuated with Ron Weasley, a member of the 'Golden Trio'.

Her character was killed during the Battle of Hogwarts in the final movie, with Cave having gone on to be a successful author, illustrator and comedian since then.
