Christina Ricci has admitted that she was out of control in her 20s.

The Bel Ami star revealed details of her formerly wild lifestyle in a new interview with Marie Claire UK.

"I'm so glad I'm not 20 years old anymore. I was in a hurricane. I'm a lot calmer now," she declared. "I don't cause destruction for myself and others everywhere I go."

Ricci also said that a lot of her troubles stemmed from being a child actress. She explained that it was too hard for her as a teen to accept that "everyone might not get [her] sense of humor [and] everyone might not like" her.

The actress added of her current state of mind: "I take things as they happen and I've learned to be calm about things. Troubleshoot problems as they arise and make the best out of things."

Ricci co-stars with Robert Pattinson and Uma Thurman in Bel Ami, which is now playing in UK cinemas and opens in the US later this year.
