Coronation Street star Michelle Keegan has revealed that her mum Jacqui approves of her boyfriend Max George.
The 24-year-old actress, who plays Tina McIntyre in the soap, got engaged to The Wanted singer George in May last year after a seven-month relationship.
Keegan told Now magazine: "Mum didn't always like my boyfriends. She'd tell me to finish with them, but I refused and learnt the hard way. She never said, 'I told you so', though. Mum loves Max. They really get on and she doesn't always take my side in an argument."
Jacqui added: "Max is a lovely lad and very family-oriented. We all went to see him on tour in Liverpool. But it can be hard being in the public eye."
Keegan and George were believed to have called off their wedding after "a tough past three or four months" last year, but they denied all the rumours.
Jacqui continued: "I knew Michelle would feel bad when she read those stories about her and Max splitting up - all because she wasn't wearing her ring or something. You feel like screaming, 'Give them space!'"
