Harry Potter and Wonder Woman actor David Thewlis has announced that he has married his other half Hermine, with a heartfelt post that harkens back to their first meeting.

The actor shared a series of photos to his Instagram, led by a picture of them sharing a kiss in the sunset. Alongside the photo he wrote a lengthy caption that reads: "When I first met Hermine she was wearing a cherry red dress with white polka dots and smoking tobacco from a clay pipe.

"She told me she was the retired ringmistress of a travelling flea circus. I thought she was joking, but it was true. Ça a été un coup de foudre (it was love at first sight).

"These days nobody smokes and the only rings are on our fingers. These days, sleeping beside her, I wake up laughing in the middle of the night."

In the post, Thewlis continues by saying he's "already a little lost" as Hermine has gone to spend time away in France with her family, whilst he remains at home "hawking fine literature to the masses".

According to some publications, the actor referred to Hermine as his wife in a post back in April, but it was not widely picked up on.

Thewlis was previously married to Very Annie Mary director Sarah Sugaman, and was in a relationship with Marcella's Anna Friel between 2001 and 2010.
