Ex-Happy Mondays dancer Bez has been convicted of assaulting his former partner Monica Ward.
Bez, whose real name is Mark Berry, claimed that Ward stole money from him. According to PA, the star then grabbed the woman's neck and throttled her.
Speaking in Manchester's Magistrates Court, Ward said that her ex-boyfriend was "looking insane" and threatened to kill her after she contacted the police.
The incident occurred at the pair's flat in Manchester following an argument.
Bez, who claims he acted in self-defence, will be sentenced on August 25.
