The One Show presenter Alex Jones has shared some pretty wonderful news with viewers live on air.

Alex and co-host Matt Baker were wrapping up chats with guests Nadiya Hussain and John Bishop on the BBC chat show on Monday (December 10) when she decided to share a big development in her own life.

Turning to cradle her belly as Matt grinned from ear to ear, Alex told viewers: "A bit of news before we go. I’ve not been on the mince pie, there is a little baby [in there]!"

Matt gave Alex a big hug as Nadiya Hussain, John Bishop and the studio audience cheered, before Matt offered hearty congratulations to his long-time co-host and her husband Charlie Thomson.

Viewers also shared their own best wishes for the presenter:

This will be the second child for the couple, who previously welcomed their son Teddy in January 2017. At the time, she called into The One Show to reveal the happy news live on air.

Alex previously admitted that she put too much pressure on herself to return to work quickly over job safety fears, but praised bosses for giving her all the time she needed after welcoming Teddy.

"They were brilliant," she remembered. "The head of BBC One, my own boss on The One Show, they were fantastic. They said, 'Alex, take your time, really go through it. Just, come back when you're ready. Don't rush. Make the most of it'."

Congratulations Alex and Charlie!
