Lewis Hamilton has confirmed that he is trying to 'make things work' with partner Nicole Scherzinger.

The couple announced in January that they had split after two years together, but it was recently revealed that they had decided to give the relationship another try.

ITN reports that Hamilton has now spoken about the reunion for the first time. The racing car driver explained that while he is back with Scherzinger, she will be unable to join him for the first race of the Formula 1 season in Bahrain later this month.

Hamilton explained: "I would love for Nicole to be in Bahrain but she's away. You know we said we want to focus on our careers.

"She's away focusing on her album and she's got a couple of really cool things coming up so she'll be working, but we have been to Bahrain together on holiday, we've got a very good friend there."

He added: "But no, we'll definitely visit another time and if she can come, if she surprises me then fantastic but I know that she's got work so maybe next time.
