When rain forced a British festival to cancel its final day last week, no-one was particularly surprised. This is the UK, we're talking about. Our blood is at least 40% rainwater.

But when US festival Lollapalooza was forced to evacuate its site and even cut headline sets after experiencing "inclement" weather, everyone was kind of shocked.

Not least Lorde, who was scheduled to perform at the Chicago-based event and has since accused organisers of some "MELODRAMA shit". We see what you did there, Lorde.

The festival was cancelled due to safety concerns just after 9pm on Thursday night (August 3), with Lorde still left to perform.

Lorde quickly went over to Twitter to vent her frustration, telling fans that she was "so gutted" that she wasn't able to take the stage.

Before telling festival-goers to "stay safe" in the storms, Lorde promised that she would make it up to everyone who missed out.

"they've told us we can't play. i had the most spectacular show planned for you and i PROMISE i will come back to play it as soon as i can," she wrote.

"looking into the possibilities of a club show but i want you guys to see full tank show. will keep you posted."

But if you feel bad for Lorde and her fans, spare a little thought for poor-old Muse, whose set was abruptly stopped after performing just three songs.

Admitting that they were "gutted" to have been cut, the band thanked the "awesome" crowd before indirectly asking Lollapalooza to book them again next year.

Fair's fair!
