Rain might be a staple of some music festivals – but one festival couldn't handle the weather this weekend.

Due to be on from Friday (July 27) to Sunday (July 20), Derbyshire-based Y Not Festival had to cancel its final day of acts after weather conditions made the festival grounds unsafe.

The team behind Y Not posted on its website: "Unfortunately we've had to take the difficult decision to cancel Sunday due to the adverse weather conditions across the weekend, after consulting all the relevant authorities.

"The safety of our guests, performers and crew is our primary concern and the potential risk was too severe for Sunday to go ahead," the post continued.

"We are very sorry for the disappointment and disruption caused to everyone who was looking forward to the final day of the festival."

That meant performances were canned from the likes of Two Door Cinema Club, Happy Mondays, Maximo Park, Twin Atlantic and Kate Nash – but it was more than a bit of drizzle that had Y Not closing its doors.

Festival-goers posted the conditions at the festival all over social media as the weekend went on, and its fair to say that it looks more than a little miserable.

Fans were, understandably, disappointed. But, being British, they still had their sense of humour about the whole debacle.

Here's hoping next year's festival sees better weather.
