Kings of Leon have closed the 2013 Virgin Media V Festival in Chelmsford with a career-spanning set.

The quartet, led by a denim-clad Caleb Followill, powered their way through fan favourites from their first three albums, including 'Molly's Chambers' and 'Four Kicks', as well as a series of crowd-pleasers from their 2008 mega-seller Only The Night.

'Use Somebody' and 'Sex on Fire' were among the most rapturously received tracks by the thousands gathered at the Virgin Media Stage to see the band, who also played 2010 hit 'Radioactive' from Only the Night follow-up Come Around Sundown.

New material also came in the form of new single 'Supersoaker', taken from Kings of Leon's upcoming fifth studio album Mechanical Bull.

The show brought to an end another hugely successful festival at Hylands Park, which saw performances from the likes of Olly Murs, The Saturdays, Jessie J, Emeli Sandé and Calvin Harris.

Beyoncé headlined the first night at the festival, wowing the crowds with a hit-filled set and five costume changes.
