At the time of writing, Zedd's 'Stay The Night' has charted - and in many cases peaked - in ten countries. And while we're used to the frustrating six-week delay that so often comes with 'international singles' in the UK, waiting a whole five months longer than the rest of the world (the song was originally released in September) seems a bit excessive, especially when you consider the trend for chart-friendly EDM is fading fast.
What's more, 'Stay The Night' is about as generic as they come. Granted, his choice of a guest vocalist in Paramore's Hayley Williams - whose distinctive punky twang glides over the twinkly piano intro - is inspired, but elsewhere, the build-ups are bland, the breakdowns predictable and the lyrics annoyingly repetitive. "Are you gonna stay the night?" she asks again and again; and like any nagging partner, it doesn't take long to zone this one out.
