Craving some new music for that New Year gym playlist? Well don't we have some bangers for you this week. Justin Bieber stealthily popped out a new track, while The 1975 are sounding more pop than ever. As for that cool-down song, Birdy's soothing balladry will relax your aching muscles. So what are you waiting for? Check out this week's Playlist below.

1. JUSTIN BIEBER: 'I'll Be There'

Chart-hog and newly mermaid-haired Justin Bieber has shown he can do 'subtle' from time to time. The singer's snuck out a new track 'I'll Be There' and he even has a turn at rapping - bragging about how far back his car seats go, no less. 'I'll Be There' feels like a throwback to the R&B of his 2013 collection Journals, and that's no bad thing.

2. HONNE: '3am'

Pinpointed for big things in 2016, London duo Honne continue to seduce with their latest track. Quite literally. "We could be getting frisky girl, until three o'clock in the morning," they remark, over a velvety backdrop of chilled beats and smooth electronics, with echoes of the sensuality Prince evokes so well.

3. THE 1975: 'The Sound'

It's always great when a rock band give up all their pretences and just put their minds towards making an all-out banger. It's worked wonders here for The 1975 who, admittedly, have always had a bit of a leaning towards pop. But on 'The Sound', it's bigger, bolder and has that infectious, bouncy piano line that makes it an instant floorfiller. More of this please, gentlemen.

4. BIRDY: 'Keeping Your Head Up'

While most 19-year-olds are still deciding what the hell to do with the rest of their lives, Birdy (real name - deep breath - Jasmine Lucilla Elizabeth Jennifer van den Bogaerde) has already released two studio albums... and is lining up her third for March. What the singer-songwriter has been mapping out, though, is her sound. And on new single, 'Keeping You Head Up', it's emerged as a more rousing, soaring and uplifting take on the heart-swelling balladry she's known for.

5. FLUME: 'Never Be Like You'

Flume is back. It's been nearly four years, but the Aussie producer is finally primed to release the follow-up to his debut album. The first single from Skin features some help from Rihanna songwriter and Canadian vocalist Kai. Flume and Kai headed out into the night to seek inspiration for the track, and it worked. Judging from 'Never Be Like You', Skin is shaping up to be one of the most promising albums of 2016.

6. KANYE WEST ft. KENDRICK LAMAR: 'No More Parties In LA'

Yeezy has a good track record when it comes to sampling classic songs and turning them into fire-hot hip-hop - and here, Junie Morrison's 1976 track 'Suzie Thundertussy' (oh yes) works magnificently. But it is teaming up with Kendrick Lamar that has kicked Kanye into gear, delivering some his best lines in years. "I was uninspired since Lauryn Hill retired," he quips at one point, before chucking in a reference of the Kardashian clan: "Whole family getting money, thank God for E!" Swish is fast becoming the sound of another hoop scored.

7. ALEX NEWELL: 'This Ain't Over'

Move out of the way - because there's a new club kid in town. After playing the role of male-to-female trans teen Unique Adams on Glee, 23-year-old Alex Newell is primed to switch cover versions for his own chart-scaling hits. 'This Ain't Over' is a powerful start, bursting through with the kind of four-to-the-floor chorus that'll have you strutting onto the dancefloor.

8. VIIGO: 'Move'

Heard of 10K Islands? They're a new LA-based label you should be aware of. Or will know about soon regardless: making Kanye's G.O.O.D. Fridays look positively unambitious, they're putting out a new single from their roster every Friday in 2016. Most recently it was Miami group Viigo's turn with their pensive track 'Move'. "It sounds like a slow motion stare out a metro window at night," says frontman MJ Hancock. We couldn't agree more.

9. QUILT: 'Roller'

'Roller' might sound all luscious and well-to-do with its enticing brand of psych-pop, but don't be fooled: Boston four-piece Quilt are actually feeling pretty bummed out. According to vocalist Anna Fox Rochinski, being a 'roller' is "a sensation that lies somewhere between claiming strength for yourself but also hiding to protect yourself from the human bullsh*t of the world." Oh.

10. DJDS: 'I Don't Love You'

DJDS aka house revivalists Sam Griesemer and Jerome Potter are back with a new album Stand Up & Speak. Rather than go about picking the same predictable collaborators, the LA two-piece trawled through Craigslist and doled out flyers to find the right musicians for each track. Resulting in their latest single 'I Don't Love You' - which sees DJDS at their most pop, while simultaneously proving that leafleting and random web lurkers might be the new best ingredients for a hit.
