Glastonbury 2014 live blog: All the action on Friday as it happened

Digital Spy is live from Worthy Farm with updates, pictures and interviews.

The music fans have turned up, the rain has already started to fall and the Pyramid Stage is waiting for some of the world's biggest acts to perform on it... Glastonbury 2014 has officially begun!

If you didn't manage to get a ticket for this year's event, don't fret because Digital Spy's team at Worthy Farm will be posting live updates, pictures, videos and news throughout the day.

Saturday, June 28 - 00:20
Well, that was something. Arcade Fire have just put in an absolutely epic headline set on the Pyramid Stage to close the first day - and they paid tribute to past headliners Pulp, Beyonce, Jay Z and Oasis in a mash-up!

And Win Butler walked to the front row of the audience and took a fan's mobile phone to take pictures with!

Plus, 'Power Out' sounded as ridiculously incredible as it should. Brilliant set from one of the best bands in the world.

Friday, June 27 - 22:30
Paolo Nutini has just performed a stunning set on the Other Stage.

He even picked up a shirt from the crowd and said: "I just want to say thank you to Gemma for my Glastonbury shirt."

Imagine being that Gemma!

We're hearing that as of 3pm today, 128,426 people had arrived at the festival. Er, that's a lot of people.

Friday, June 27 - 19:15
Lily Allen had to start her Pyramid Stage set half an hour late due to the thunderstorm. Rudimental had to cut their set short beforehand, with the festival issuing the following apology:

"Because of an electrical storm and because of safety regulations, we had to power down the stage. Special thanks and apologies to Rudimental, whose set was cut short because of the storm."

This is what Worthy Farm looks like after all of that rain. THANKS THUNDERSTORM. At least Lily Allen is on the stage now performing 'Hard Out Here'.

Weather update: There's been just a little bit of rain. Of course there would be - it's Glastonbury. Power was shut off to some stages for safety reasons, and we ran for some much-needed cover... but things are looking up a little bit now. Double rainbow all the way!

Glastonbury backstage fact: A giant cock keeps guard over the photographers' ladders at all times. We're off to see Lily Allen play the Pyramid Stage at 18:30, so check back for a full round-up.

Friday, June 27 - 13:50
Blondie just played a great set on The Other Stage and the sun is out and shining brightly. There are grey clouds on the horizon, so we're hoping they will start to blow in another direction.

Glastonbury is reporting that, as of midday today (June 27), 125,048 ticket holders have turned up. Over half of this year's crowd are here, but there's still thousands more to turn up.

The only thing better than Glastonbury is Lego Glastonbury. It's exactly the same, just with less chance of mud.

Ricky Wilson was very energetic for this year's opening set at Glastonbury this morning, despite it being 11am. He jumped into the crowd for 'I Predict A Riot' and belted out classic hit 'Everyday I Love You Less and Less'. And guess what? The rain actually stopped for the duration of the set. Let's hope it holds out a little longer.

Make sure you send us all your best Tweets from Worthy Farm. We'll be posting up pictures and Twitter reviews here. Post them to @digitalspy and #dsglastonbury.

Here's the first band of the day - the Kaiser Chiefs kicking off the weekend and finding their voice (see what we did there) on The Other Stage.

And for anyone feeling a bit bitter that they're not at the festival, cling on to the image below. That's going to be what everyone looks like come Sunday.

It's currently pouring down with rain on Worthy Farm. The last remaining bit of grass is turning to mud. Kaiser Chiefs will be opening the festival at 11am with a set on The Other Stage.

According to Glastonbury's latest statistics, 91,494 festival-goers had turned up by 9am yesterday morning, while 4,160 camper vans are currently parked up on site.

As for yesterday's Glastonbury Free Press headline, there was a big splash on world peace, as you can see below.

Friday, June 27 - 9:00
The full day of music at Glastonbury 2014 is finally here. Check out the five acts we're hoping to catch in the pouring rain later today.
