Tonight marked the official start of Eurovision fever in the UK, and while the excitement will definitely probably die down a bit before we get to the Grand Final in Kiev, Ukraine in May, at least we now know who'll be representing us when the time comes.

It was like an episode of The X Factor all over again as all six of the competitors on Eurovision: You Decide hailed from the ITV show, but the person who ultimately triumphed was Lucie Jones after facing off the competition from Danyl Johnson, Holly Brewer, Olivia Garcia, Nate Simpson and Salena Mastroianni.

You Decide followed the new Eurovision voting system implemented last year, which saw the public votes combined with the votes of a professional jury to name the winner and, of course, with great public power comes great public responsibility.

Eurovision: You Decide host Mel Giedroyc has already completely decided that the public is getting the blame if the UK entry fails to impress our continental brethren, so we thought we'd get a bit of a head's up and find out how everyone's feeling about the choice.

So, was Lucie the right winner? Vote in our poll below to let us know:

All of tonight's contestants had a tough act to follow tonight after Norway's 2009 entry Alexander Rybak opened the show with his Eurovision-winning song 'Fairytale', and even Strictly Come Dancing's Bruno Tonioli showed the nervous contestants how it's dance as Mel revealed his secret Eurovision past.

And, spoilers: 1980 was apparently the year of red leather costumes.

Lucie will now be taking 'Never Give Up On You' to Ukraine for the Grand Final show on May 13, where Graham Norton will once again be returning to comment on the contest in his own sarcastic way.
