Nadine Coyle thinks it's entirely possible that we'll be hearing the Sound of the Underground from Girls Aloud again one day.

The girl group who rocked our world with 'The Promise', 'Sexy No No' and so many other hits haven't performed together since their hugely successful tenth anniversary tour ended back in 2013.

Since that time, Cheryl has racked up several hits on her own before recently becoming a mum while Sarah Harding was just crowned the winner of Celebrity Big Brother's summer series.

As for Nadine Coyle, she's spent several years living in the US with American footballer Jason Bell… and has just recently spoken in-depth for the first time about the bitterness that ultimately split up Girls Aloud.

In an interview on the Bizarre podcast, Nadine reiterated that she was excluded from the decision to end Girls Aloud following their 2013 tour.

"I thought we were going to continue. I thought we were going to do loads and loads of stuff," she recalled. "We had songs, we had a three-album deal and it seemed like a great time. Obviously the girls had different plans.

"The very last night, management had come to the room. I was all ready, just about to get dressed and they were like, 'So I know you're not going to like this, I know you're not going to agree, but the girls want to split up the band'.

"And I asked Sarah and she was like, 'I can't be bothered and I hate everything'. Because you know, when you're on tour everybody gets tired, you're exhausted."

In response to Cheryl's insistence that no break-up decision was ever made without all of the girls' approval, Nadine argued: "When we took the hiatus she was the one that came out with songs immediately. I didn't do anything for a long time."

Although there are clearly still interpersonal gripes between the Girls Aloud members (which Sarah Harding also made mention of on CBB), Nadine is insistent that a reunion is still possible… someday.

"Could we work together? Absolutely. We could do that next week and it would be fine," she said. "It might be different to how everything would work and how it would all go. Yeah, you'd just go, 'We'd do it'."

In the meantime, Nadine is working with former Girls Aloud songwriter Brian Higgins on solo material that blends "pop, rock, soul or different types of things" in the style of her old band.
