Marti Pellow has announced that he has left Wet Wet Wet.

He broke the news on his personal Twitter account, writing: "Hi all, wanted you to know for foreseeable future I'll be concentrating on my solo work, am excited by the future and see you out there."

Marti's departure comes shortly after the band had celebrated their 30th anniversary with a tour, and only two months after he had released his 10th solo album, Mysterious.

Last year, Drake became as big as Wet Wet Wet when 'One Dance' equalled the band's famous achievement of 15 straight weeks as the UK's No.1 with 'Love Is All Around'.

Both Drake and Wet Wet Wet fell short of Bryan Adams's 16-week run as the UK's No.1 with 'Everything I Do (I Do It For You)', with Wet Wet Wet stopped in their tracks in 1994 by the glorious Europop of Whigfield's 'Saturday Night'.

Marti previously left Wet Wet Wet in 1999 to deal with substance addiction issues and returned to music in 2001 with his debut solo album Smile.
