Rita Ora has signed a global recording deal with Atlantic Records.

Ora will be returning to the studio and working on new material for release later this year. Reports suggested that the singer was planning new music after deciding not to return to The X Factor for another series.

"Music is my first love and I am looking forward to getting my new songs released," Ora announced. "I'm thankful to my new Atlantic Records family for all their support and encouragement. The next chapter is going to be incredible."

"Rita is a rare talent and true global star," added President of Atlantic Records UK Ben Cook. "We look forward to getting in the studio with her and making an incredible album."

Earlier this month, she teased that she had signed a new record deal after she had sued Jay Z's record label Roc Nation back in December.

Roc Nation later countered with a $2.4 million lawsuit. Ora's attorney seemed to place blame on the label's distribution partner Sony Music at the time, adding: "Jay Z has personally and graciously promised Rita complete freedom from Roc Nation."
