As the world reacts to losing a music legend, Google is mourning the sad death of Prince with a doodle dedicated to the 'Purple Rain' singer.

The search giant has created a purple Google Doodle with rain falling down on the logo. Clicking on it will find results for "Prince music".

'Purple Rain' was Prince's sixth studio album, a hit song and a rock musical movie. The album, released in 1984, has gone platinum 13 times over, while the film won an Academy Award for Best Original Song Score.

Snapchat also paid tribute to Prince earlier by introducing a 'Purple Rain' filter.

The legendary star was found dead at the age of 57 on Thursday (April 21) at his home in suburban Minneapolis.

Madonna, Justin Timberlake and Oprah Winfrey have all posted their condolences, while US president Barack Obama called him "a creative icon"
