Update: Katy Perry's management have denied to Digital Spy that the recently-registered track '1984' is anything to do with Taylor Swift. Read our updated story.

Katy Perry is assumed by many to be the inspiration behind Taylor Swift's new single 'Bad Blood', and it looks as if the 'Roar' star might be about to fight back.

Swift has admitted that her song is about a fallout with a fellow singer, though she hasn't ever specifically said who.

She previously told Rolling Stone that she was "straight-up enemies" with the subject of the song, adding: "She would come up at awards shows, say something and walk away, and I would think, 'Are we friends or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?'"

Selena Gomez also played Swift's nemesis in the 'Bad Blood' video, wearing a wig similar to Perry's hair.

In potential retaliation, Perry has now registered a song titled '1984', which could be seen as a reference to Taylor's album 1989.

The new song is co-written by Dallas Austin, Andreas Carlsson, Patrick Collier and Nazerine Tokio.

Earlier this year, Swift stated that she will never specifically talk about Perry or their feud in interviews.
