Kasabian have announced that they are to play a live show in their hometown.

The British group will play at Leicester's Victoria Park on June 21, 2014.

Guitarist Serge Pizzomo said: "We are hugely honoured to be playing in our home town at such an incredible setting right in the heart of the city."

The group are currently in the studio, recording their upcoming fifth album, a follow-up to Velociraptor!, which was released in 2011.

Leicester City mayor Peter Soulsby said: "Leicester is incredibly proud of Kasabian and we are delighted to host this homecoming concert to celebrate these local heroes."

Tickets for the live date will go on sale at 9am on Friday, November 29.
