Jennifer Garner is returning to her action roots in new revenge thriller Peppermint.
Directed by Pierre Morel – the filmmaker behind Taken – Peppermint sees Garner play Riley North, a wife and mother who awakens from a coma to find that her beloved husband and daughter have been murdered.
Although Riley attempts to see the killers face justice, they're part of a cartel so powerful that they've got the police and judges in their pockets and so they walk free.
Channelling her grief and anger, Riley disappears for five years to train herself up in combat and then makes a dramatic return as a vigilante to exact revenge on her family's killers.
What's more, she's been cleaning up the streets by punishing criminals – and the residents absolutely idolise her.
She's obviously been taking some inspiration from Marvel's Frank Castle, aka The Punisher...

Peppermint sees Garner take on another action role following her star turn as Sydney Bristow in JJ Abrams series Alias between 2001 and 2006, and playing the lead in 2005's Elektra.
Since then, she's appeared in the likes of Love, Simon, Dallas Buyers Club, Juno and The Invention of Lying.
Peppermint also stars Kong: Skull Island's John Ortiz, 10 Cloverfield Lane actor John Gallagher Jr and Parenthood's Tyson Ritter, and is due for release on September 21 in the UK and September 7 in the US.
