The first trailer for Netflix's new Christmas rom-com Hot Frosty has been released, and it contains a neat Mean Girls reference.

The upcoming holiday movie stars the high school classic's Lacey Chabert as a widow whose life is transformed after she falls for a steamy snowman brought to life.

In the trailer, we meet Cathy in the middle of a "mess" in her life, though she is given a red scarf and told: "Good things happen to you when you're out in the cold."

She then comes across an Adonis-like snowman, whom she gives her scarf – and before long, he's transformed into a human played by Dustin Milligan.

He soon starts to bond with Cathy while also getting on the wrong side of the law due to his initially naked origins – though he does get dating advice from one of the cops (played fittingly by Charles Boyle himself, Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Joe Lo Truglio).

"For a snowman, you're one heck of a romantic," Cathy later declares as their bond grows stronger.

However, the funniest moment comes at the end as the snowman watches Chabert's Mean Girls co-star Lindsay Lohan on TV, Cathy saying: "That's so funny – that looks just like a girl I went to high school with."

We're certainly holding out for fetch to happen with a Cady Heron and Gretchen Wieners reunion.

Hot Frosty comes from director Jerry Ciccoritti and writer Russell Hainline, and also stars Mike & Molly's Katy Mixon, Dumb and Dumber's Lauren Holly and Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Craig Robinson.

Also set to appear is Selling Sunset's Chrishell Stause, who previously shared her excitement at joining the festive movie.

After Chabert announced the project on social media, Stause responded: "You are the sweetest - Hope to work again together in the future."

Hot Frosty premieres on Netflix on November 13.
