Mothers' Instinct, starring Oscar winners Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway, has dropped its first trailer.
A remake of 2018's psychological thriller Duelles, which is again directed by Belgian filmmaker Olivier Masset-Depasse, Mothers' Instinct finds Chastain and Hathaway in 1960s suburbia as neighbours Alice and Céline.
But when Alice fails to save Céline's young son, who tragically falls to his death, their friendship takes a heavy turn into paranoia.

The trailer for Mothers' Instinct shows Chastain's character seemingly losing her grip on reality, believing that Céline could be orchestrating a similar accident for her child
"She thinks that I should've saved her son," Alice tells her husband, played by Anders Danielsen Lie (Bergman Island).

Back when the project began shooting in 2022, Chastain and her production partner Kelly Carmichael issued a statement lauding production company Neon, describing the company as "a true filmmaker's haven".
"Their unique vision and distinctive campaigns are a reflection of their mission to bring the best and most diverse cinematic experience to US audiences," the statement continued.
"Mothers' Instinct will be in excellent hands with Tom [Quinn, co-founder] and the team."

Meanwhile, for fans hoping to see Chastain in Netflix's adaptation of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, there is some bad news.
Speaking to E! News last month, the actress confirmed she's not attached to the project, "but I love how excited the fans are".
"When I was working on Broadway, every single day, they'd be outside, when I was signing, with the books," said Chastain.
"I just love how wonderful that fanbase is. I look forward to watching it and I'm sorry to disappoint everyone out there!"
Mothers' Instinct is coming soon to cinemas.
