Halloween Ends promises killer punch-ups in its first trailer, which dropped today (July 20).

Bringing Jamie Lee Curtis back for one last hurrah as 'final girl' Laurie Strode, returning director David Gordon Green will serve up the closing chapter of his reboot trilogy this October – when else would be appropriate? That trilogy, of course, began with 2018's Halloween.

The trailer opens with The Shape/Michael Myers creeping through Laurie's house, before meeting a pointed gun.

Curtis is set to reprise the role of Laurie Strode for one final showdown with the murderous Michael Myers, following the trauma her character experienced in Halloween Kills last year.

She had previously teased the trailer's arrival, tweeting the date "7/20" alongside a pumpkin emoji a few days before its launch.

Halloween Kills came to a bloody climax with Michael Myers seen stabbing Tommy Doyle (Anthony Michael Hall), Leigh Brackett (Charles Cyphers) and then Laurie's daughter Karen (Judy Greer).

With more motivation than ever, fans can only assume that the final movie will see Laurie attempt to kill Michael once and for all.

Nick Castle, who shares the Michael Myers role with James Jude Courtney, teased the "surprising" ending of the final chapter recently.

"My good friend James Jude Courtney, he's doing 99% of the work in the last three movies as Michael Myers and doing a wonderful job, I think," he told fans at Steel City Con in Pittsburgh.

"I just saw he was over at the editing room where they're completing the first cut of Halloween Ends with David Gordon Green, of course, as the steward of the ship. It sounds like it should be pretty good.

"I think there might be more because of all the success of [this trilogy], but [Green] will have a very surprising storyline, an ending for everyone. It's absolutely something I don't think you would have ever guessed in terms of the way it's going to unroll."

Halloween Ends is scheduled to be released on October 14, 2022.
