Speaking recently to Vanity Fair about the movie, Edgar-Jones – who broke out in 2020 for her performance as Marianne in Normal People – revealed what attracted her to the role of Kya.
"She has such an inner strength that I would love to have myself," she said. "She’s complicated, flawed, brilliant…and survives against all odds."
The actress most recently starred in Fresh alongside Marvel's Sebastian Stan, and director Mimi Cave recently spoke to Digital Spy about casting the pair.
"I couldn't have an actor or an actress who felt cautious about it, and both Daisy and Sebastian were all-in from the beginning. They just had an extraordinary amount of commitment towards making this the best it could be," Cave said.
Where the Crawdads Sing is set for release on July 22, 2022.
