Sony and Marvel have finally released the first trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home, the first MCU release of Phase 4.

The thrilling trailer confirms the rumours that Jake Gyllenhaal's Mysterio will be teaming up with Peter Parker (Tom Holland) on his European tour, with Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) popping along for the ride too.

Sony also released an international version of the trailer which starts with a different scene as Peter and his friends go through customs, showing that Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) packed his Spidey suit for him. Aww.

In one of the odder changes, it also switches the "dickwad" insult from Flash Thompson (Tony Revolori) to "loser".

A lucky few attendees at Brazil Comic-Con on December 8 had already seen the US trailer, but everyone else has been patiently waiting. Over the weekend, Holland joked that he'd "see what I can do" in response to a fan wanting the trailer.

He followed that up with a tweet that said he "spoke to Sony" and then Holland revealed the trailer during an Instagram Live this afternoon.

What to Read Next

The Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel brings back Tom Holland as Spider-Man so it's basically a spoiler for Avengers: Endgame, given the last time we saw Spidey, he was a pile of dust on Titan.

The movie is said to begin a "few minutes after Avengers 4 wraps as a story", according to producer Amy Pascal, but otherwise we don't know all that much about the plot of the sequel.

Spider-Man: Far From Home will also bring back Homecoming stars Zendaya and Jacob Batalon as Michelle/MJ and Peter's best friend Ned, respectively, while Michael Keaton will also return as Adrian Toomes, AKA Vulture.

Marisa Tomei will again feature as Aunt May and Jon Favreau returns as Happy Hogan, although Robert Downey Jr is not expected to appear as Tony Stark.

There will be other MCU appearances though from Samuel L Jackson's Nick Fury and Cobie Smulders's Maria Hill.

Spider-Man: Far From Home will swing into cinemas on July 5, 2019, while Avengers: Endgame is released in cinemas on April 26, 2019.
