A new superhero is about to join the MCU in the form of Tessa Thompson.

Deadline is reporting that the Creed star has joined the cast of Thor: Ragnarok as a "kind of superhero" who is set to star in other Marvel films.

Thompson's character will also be the love interest of Thor (Chris Hemsworth), which supports reports that Natalie Portman's Dr Jane Foster won't be starring in the threequel.

The two actresses will, however, be seen together in Alex Garland's Annihilation, with Thompson shooting that film before Thor: Ragnarok.

Thor: Ragnarok could also mark the final MCU outing for Tom Hiddleston as Loki and will see the return of Jaimie Alexander's Sif, as well as a potential MCU debut for Cate Blanchett.

Stellan Skarsgard's Dr Eric Selvig, however, definitely WON'T be in the threequel, set to start shooting in Australia in June.

Thor: Ragnarok will be released on November 3, 2017.
