Star Wars: Episode IX is going to be bringing back one familiar face that was missing in action during the battle between the Resistance and the First Order in The Last Jedi.

What to Read Next

Heroes alum Greg Grunberg was on the first line of defence against General Hux and his forces on the Starkiller base in 2015's The Force Awakens as X-wing pilot Temmin 'Snap' Wexley, but, apparently, has been off on a mission in the Outer Rim since then.

Deadline reports that Grunberg is all set to suit up again for director JJ Abrams in Episode IX, and although the site says his character has yet to be confirmed, it would seem very odd indeed for him to be playing anyone but Snap.

This will be a reunion for actor and director, since Abrams casts Grunberg in most of his projects as a good-luck charm of sorts. They've worked together on Lost, Alias, Felicity and Star Trek.

Grunberg fills out a cast of veteran Star Wars cast members which includes original trilogy favourites Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams and Anthony Daniels as well as new trilogy stars Daisy Ridley, Kelly Marie Tran, John Boyega and Adam Driver.

Lucasfilm will use previously-unseen footage of Carrie Fisher from both The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi to integrate General Leia Organa into the sequel as well.

Abrams has also hired some exciting new faces to populate the galaxy far, far away — including former Doctor Who stars Richard E Grant and Matt Smith, newcomer Naomi Ackie, Lost actor Dominic Monaghan and The Americans' Keri Russell.

Star Wars: Episode IX will be released on December 20, 2019.
