Let's be clear: Leonardo DiCaprio is the easy frontrunner for Best Actor at this year's Academy Awards on February 28 for his work in The Revenant

But it's been a long time coming for the actor, whose work has been unsuccessfully nominated four times before (he also missed out on a Best Picture nomination as producer on The Wolf of Wall Street). And that's what inspired Red Carpet Rampage, a brilliant arcade-style 8-bit game where players must help 'Leo' towards his ultimate goal. Check out a clip below.

Play the quaalude bonus round (inspired by Wolf of Wall Street's funniest scene)! Out-race Matt Damon and Michael Fassbender! And act harder than you ever have before in order to reach the prize.

Worse, you'll have to try to find the black nominee in one round - your toughest challenge - and avoid tripping over Lady Gaga on the red carpet.

It did feel like DiCaprio was desperately reaching for an Oscar back around J Edgar, which undoubtedly inspired this slice of fried gold.

Happily for all of us, his more recent performances have been good, but not quite as hungrily grasping for glory.

Hopefully life will imitate this game, and the actor will finally go home with a statuette this year. Although, hey, there's an upside to him missing out - we get to enjoy Red Carpet Rampage 2 this time next year! Maybe we should all hope he loses after all...
