Celebrities usually wear their very best at the Oscars. Lady Gaga wore £23 million worth of diamonds, including a necklace which was last worn by Audrey Hepburn. Gemma Chan wore the most stunning Maison Valentino ruffly dress, and Ashley Graham wowed everyone in a Zac Posen hourglass fishtail gown.

But, erm, X-Men star James McAvoy decided to use the occasion to let his celebrity pals sign his white shirt in a red sharpie, giving us more last day of school vibes than Academy Awards. It's kind of amazing?

Sharing the picture on Instagram after the ceremony, James tagged a number of celebrities who had autographed his shirt. This included newly brunette Charlize Theron, Brie Larson, Sarah Paulson, Samuel L Jackson and Michael B Jordan, among others.

To be honest, we would almost definitely let all the above sign anything we were wearing at any time.

McAvoy was at the Oscars along with Black Panther actress Danai Gurira to present the award for Best Sound Editing to Bohemian Rhapsody. When on TV, his shirt didn't appear to be signed, leading us to guess the graffiti happened at some point during the ceremony and after party.

The actor then told Vanity Fair on the after party red carpet that he was backstage having a drink at the Oscars, as you do, when he saw the said sharpie on the floor. He then picked it up and got the likes of Frances McDormand to sign his shirt.

He said the aim of the mass signing is to auction it off for charity – which is always a lovely idea. Well done, James McAvoy.
