Steven Seagal's End of a Gun has been picked up at this weekend's Cannes Film Festival.

US rights for the film were purchased by the Grindstone Entertainment Group at this year's event while The Exchange has acquired international sales rights, Variety reports.

The film sees Seagal play an ex-special forces agent who defends a passerby from a brutal attack in a parking lot, only to find himself embroiled in a plot to steal $2m.

Brian O'Shea of The Exchange said: "We are thrilled to be working on a new Steven Seagal film.

"His cache as an international action star is stronger than ever and we are hopeful this will be the first of many films with him."

Seagal previously distanced himself from ever appearing in The Expendables, saying that he "[doesn't] like some of the people involved".
