Kevin Smith has revealed that he has seen an early image of Ben Affleck in the Batman costume.
Smith, who directed Affleck early on in his career, hosted a live Man of Steel Q&A with Zack Snyder, Henry Cavill and Amy Adams for Man of Steel's home release over the weekend.
Speaking on the Hollywood Babble-On podcast after the event, Smith said that Snyder gave him a sneak peek at Affleck's Batsuit for the forthcoming Man of Steel sequel.
"He pulls out his iPhone and he shows me something that, I'm not kidding, I went glassy-eyed and weak in the knees," Smith said. "I saw the Batman costume. I saw a picture of [Affleck] in the costume. I instantly air-hugged him."
Batman actors: A history in picturesSmith spoke in more detail about the outfit, adding that it was a departure from previous screen incarnations of the suit and hinting that it was inspired by a particular comic book storyline.
"You have not seen this costume on film before - for a comic book fan it was mind-bending," he explained. "Everyone always does this Matrix-y armour thing... there wasn't a single nipple on this suit. It was fantastic.

"The costume, it blew my mind. I think you'll be happy, everyone will be like, 'Holy s**t'. It's its own thing, we haven't been down this path before."
The Man of Steel sequel, rumoured to be titled Superman vs Batman, will see Amy Adams, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne return to the cast. The blockbuster will open in cinemas on July 17, 2015.
