1From Russia With Love
Even after spotting that Red Grant is a bad man when he orders red wine with fish (the cad!), Bond still finds himself at the business end of a gun. Thankfully, Q has provided briefcases with multiple get out of jail free cards inside. Tempting Red with 50 gold sovereigns concealed within, the greedy spy then attempts to open a similar case owned by the man he was impersonating and triggers a tear gas cartridge allowing Bond to kill him.
2You Only Live Twice
Little Nellie – the portable Gyrojet built by Q Branch, which fits into a small duffel bag and can be assembled anywhere – is perfect for a simple reconnaissance mission over an island. But let's add some machine guns, heat seeking missiles, aerial mines and rocket launchers in case Bond has to shoot down multiple attack helicopters, shall we?

3You Only Live Twice (again!)
It's a really bad idea to let Bond have one last cigarette – that's what got Red Grant into trouble in From Russia With Love. Same goes when 007 is caught by Blofeld because Q has hidden a rocket in the last cigarette he's allowed to smoke and Bond uses it to kill a key henchman.
4Never Say Never Again
Warner Bros.Bond might be locked up on numerous occasions but somehow Q knows they're not going to remove his Rolex wristwatch, even though it's worth a fortune. So he hides a small laser beam in there to help him break free of those chains.

5Never Say Never Again (again!)
Warner Bros.In one of the most blatant examples of Q travelling back to the past to help 007 out-gadget his enemies, Bond is handed a pen with a rocket launcher in it. So when a crazed Fatima forces him at gun point to write down that she was the best lover he's ever had, his words are a little more explosive than she bargained for.
6Live and Let Die
When will they learn? Q once again realises that Bond's Rolex Submariner will be the one thing on his person when he's tied up and dangled over a pool full of man-eating sharks. Hence the spinning bezel that acts as a rotating saw. Lucky they didn't use metal chains, right?

7The Spy Who Loved Me
We could cite the Lotus Esprit that also happens to be the perfect vehicle for Bond's underwater activities as a spot of time-bothering but the real gift from the future is the rocket launcher Q has hidden in a ski pole, of all places.
8Moonraker
Just when you think Bond's facing Hugo Drax without a weapon, you remember that Q had the foresight to fit him with a wrist dart gun that fires either cyanide-coated or armour-piercing darts. He was only able to keep that space date in the first place because the explosive charge in his Seiko wristwatch had broken him free of being roasted by the shuttle's engine.

9The Living Daylights
Sometimes Q knows that Bond will need a variety of functions so he packs them all into one device. Whistle the first few bars of 'Rule Britannia' and this keychain releases knockout gas, wolf whistle and it explodes. It can also open 90 per cent of the world's locks with its lock pick. You know, just in case.
10Licence to Kill
Bond lose his weapon to an assailant? Were that to happen, it'd probably be handy for it to be a signature gun with a scanner built into the grip that can only be fired by one person.

11GoldenEye
United ArtistsWho knew that Russian hacker Boris Grishenko (Alan Cumming) would nervously click the Parker Jotter ballpoint pen and arm the C4 grenade inside? Q did, that's why he hid it there, allowing 007 to escape his captors once again.
12Tomorrow Never Dies
There are a ton of features hidden within the Ericsson JB988 mobile phone (stun gun, fingerprint transmitter, lock pick) but Q knows that being able to flip it open and remote control his BMW 750iL, including firing its rocket launcher and operating the car's defence mechanisms, is the key feature for Bond.

MGM / Columbia PicturesQ branch weren't onscreen when Daniel Craig stripped back Bond and cut out many of the gadgets the franchise had become known for. But they were still working in the background to add a defibrillator to 007's car so his heart could be restarted after he was poisoned. How specific is that?!
14Skyfall
Even though gadgets are often proved to save Bond's life, they rarely become standard issue. Funny that. The palm-print reader on 007's Walther PPK/S 9mm, which only allows him to fire the gun, is a rare example of tech from Licence to Kill being reused.
