Nicole Kidman kicked off the 67th annual Cannes Film Festival as she attended a photocall for Grace of Monaco in the South of France this afternoon.

The actress wore a white layered frock with cut-out details in the sleeves as she posed for photographs ahead of the royal biopic's premiere, which will open the festival tonight.

She was also joined by co-star Tim Roth, who plays on-screen husband Prince Rainier III.

The film has already left controversy in its wake, with the Monaco royal family releasing an official statement distancing themselves from the project they've branded a "fictional farce".

Producer Harvey Weinstein and the film's director Olivier Dahan have also been publicly feuding over the film's final edit.

On top of that, it is currently receiving scathing reviews from critics in Cannes, with some dubbing it even worse than Naomi Watts' Diana.
