One of film and TV's most in-demand villains Walton Goggins is finally getting the call to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Academy Award winner has just signed on for a mysterious role in Marvel's upcoming sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp, according to Deadline.

You might remember Walton as the bad guy in Django Unchained, or the bad guy in Justified, or the bad guy in American Ultra, or his upcoming role as the bad guy in the Tomb Raider reboot.

While we don't know exactly who Goggins will be playing in Ant-Man and the Wasp just yet, it's probably safe to assume his character won't be suiting up with The Avengers anytime soon.

He joins a growing cast that includes Randall Park as SHIELD agent Jimmy Woo, and returning favourites Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly as the titular heroes.

This will be the first-ever Marvel Cinematic Universe movie featuring a top-billed female superhero, and it sounds as if director Peyton Reed has truly special plans for the project.

"I can say Ant-Man and The Wasp is going to do things in the Marvel universe that they haven't gotten an opportunity to do yet," cast member David Dastmalchian (aka Kurt) recently told Entertainment Weekly. "I just got some tidbits the other day and they're mind-blowing.

"It's going to be really cool."

Ant-Man and the Wasp is released in UK cinemas on June 29, 2018 and US cinemas on July 6, 2018.
