It looks like Disney fans won't be needing a spoonful of sugar to get through Mary Poppins Returns, because the first reactions are in – and it's a total crowd-pleaser.
(Well, mostly.)
Following the sequel-cum-remake's premiere yesterday (November 29), fans and critics alike have been filing their thoughts on Emily Blunt's turn as the world's favourite nanny.
And not only does Mary Poppins Returns deliver on catchy musical numbers, brilliant casting and "sheer joy", some are even predicting big success during awards season.
"The Oscar race just got a BIG shake-up, because #MaryPoppinsReturns is sheer joy," one critic wrote. "Some of the most effortlessly charming (and catchy!) songs, performances, and BMX stunts I've seen on film in ages.

"A sequel this late shouldn't be this good and yet...it absolutely is. It's magic."
Another praised the film for its "old school charm...warmth and wonder", while many others agreed that Mary Poppins Returns is exactly what the world needs right now.
Not everyone was entirely convinced by Disney's latest nostalgia hit though, with some arguing that elements of the film 'didn't work'.
"I was bored for the most part and, as a HUGE musical theater geek, the music was so-so. It lacked a song that just sticks to your soul," another added.
Well, Mary did tell us that she was only practically perfect in every way – and that'll do for us.
Mary Poppins Returns floats into cinemas on December 19 in the US and on December 21 in the UK.
