Hot on the heels of Disney sharing a first look at its upcoming live-action Dumbo film, the House of Mouse is treating us to a new glimpse at Mary Poppins Returns too – and this time, Hamilton star Lin-Manuel Miranda gets a chance to sing.
We've already heard a very brief snippet of Emily Blunt singing as she takes on the iconic role, but this latest sneak peek at the film gives Miranda's character Jack the Lamplighter a chance to show us what he's got, complete with a team of dancing lamplighters to help him out too.
Well, we guess we've got our 'Step in Time' moment then.
Along with the performance from Miranda, the sneak peek also gives us some very brief new looks at the film's characters – from the adorable Banks children getting caught up in magical adventures, to a wink or two between Mary Poppins' umbrella and Dick Van Dyke's Mr. Dawes Jr.
But, most importantly, it also brings us this still of Lin-Manuel Miranda and Emily Blunt looking very happy to perform with an animated penguin.
Mary Poppins Returns takes place 20 years on from the magical nanny bidding farewell to the Banks children as she arrives back on Cherry Tree Lane to brighten the fortunes of the now-grown Banks kids (Emily Mortimer and Ben Whishaw), and their own little ones, after a family tragedy.
What to Read Next
The first official full-length trailer for the all-singing and dancing extravaganza premiered back in September, and director Rob Marshall recently opened up about how he feels it's a film that's very much needed today.
"If I felt that way then, I feel it twice, 19 times as much now. I just feel like this is something we need so badly," he said.
"We live in such a fragile time, that we need this film. I certainly felt that I needed it. I needed to turn off the news and be launched into a magical world where wondrous things can happen still, and there's hope."
Mary Poppins Returns will be opening on December 19 in US cinemas and on December 21 in the UK.
