We have every faith in James Wan when it comes to DC's Aquaman – after all, if the film's anything like his Conjuring creations, we're in for a right treat.
And, believe it or not, there's actually a deeper connection between Wan's new direction as a comic book movie director and his role as a horror maestro.
What to Read Next
Ahead of the release of the Conjuring universe's latest offering, James Wan has explained the inspiration behind creating such a spooky shared universe in a new featurette for The Nun.
"One of the things that occurred to all of us early on is, they have a superhero universe, why can't we do that in the horror world?" he explained.
Wan went on to say that there are "so many other great stories" not explored in horror films that are too "awesome" not to look into and develop further.
"When we were making the first Conjuring, it became very apparent to us that there could be a bigger universe," he added.

As awesome as The Nun might be, the film series' prequel was recently forced to pull one of its adverts from YouTube after users complained that it was just too scary.
The clip utilised that classic, if not slightly dangerous, horror trope of a jump scare featuring the demonic nun Valak – something viewers' hearts couldn't quite handle.
We respect your work in horror, James, but let's have none of that in Aquaman please.
The Nun opens on September 7 in the UK and the US. Aquaman will be released on December 14 in the UK and on December 21 in the US.
