Emily Blunt makes the magical dancing in Mary Poppins Returns look easy in a charming first-look photo from the Disney musical.

The nanny gets some assistance from London's lamplighters for one of the film's new musical numbers in a sneak preview unveiled by Entertainment Weekly, which you can have a look at below:

Chatting to the magazine, Blunt beams about how Mary is "just such fun to play" even if the intense choreography for both herself and Broadway-trained co-star Lin-Manuel Miranda was a challenge.

"I'm so different from this character, but I do know a lot of people like her, so it does feel familiar," she explained. "The dancing is the thing I really had to learn.

"Lin and I are not trained dancers in any way, so that was the most arduous part. You see why dancers have the best bodies on planet Earth. You just pour with sweat all day."

Blunt recently suggested that a movie as hopeful as Mary Poppins Returns is coming along at the perfect time — since people have so few things they can believe in these days.

"The world is fragile right now, and people need a film like this," she told The Sunday Times in May.

"It's incredibly hopeful," Emily added. "I didn't watch the original while shooting, but it's seared into my memory — this idea of her as this incredibly unsentimental character who swept into their lives and made it all right. I found a great comfort in that as a child."

Mary Poppins Returns will be opening on December 19 in US cinemas and on December 21 in the UK.
