Warning: This article contains potential spoilers for Aquaman.
DC's next action-packed superhero movie Aquaman released its first proper trailer during San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, and we certainly learned a thing or two from it.
What to Read Next
But actor Jason Momoa, who plays the aquatic superhero, may have given away more than he intended about his character's fate.
Speaking during an interview with Entertainment Weekly at San Diego Comic-Con, Momoa revealed that his character will "become what he's destined to be" – which in the comic mythology is the King of Atlantis.
"He was born with the powers but he never really harnessed them, honed them," he said. "Obviously this is his whole origin story. We've seen him in Justice League, which is maybe two minutes of his old life, so we get to see where he came from.
"I think when he was a little boy, he had these powers and he didn't really hone them, so this whole journey of him going to become the king... the last frame of this movie you're going to see him actually become what he's destined to be."
So does this mean that the final shot of the movie will see Aquaman being crowned king of Atlantis? It certainly sounds like that could be the case, unless Momoa is deliberately leading us down the wrong path of course...
The actor also revealed that the best thing about playing a superhero is that his children are the "perfect age" to enjoy his role, joking that they like to battle his action figure against others.
But he refused to reveal the secrets of just how he manages to pull off acting as if he's underwater, saying: "If I give them away someone's going to take my role!"
Aquaman's trailer gave us a good look at the beautiful Atlantis, as well as revealing that the film is sticking to the traditional comic mythology by showing baby Arthur Curry (aka Aquaman) being cradled by his lighthouse keeper dad Thomas Curry (Temuera Morrison) and Atlantean Queen mother Atlanna (Nicole Kidman).
It looks like Arthur is going to be facing some very difficult battles, as he faces treachery from his own brother Orm (Patrick Wilson) and battles rival King Nereus (Dolph Lundgren).
Not only that but he's also set to tangle with classic DC villain Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), which will seriously impact on Arthur's goal of uniting the seven kingdoms of Atlantis.
He had a pretty easy ride of it during Batman v Superman and Justice League in comparison.
Aquaman will be released on December 14 in the UK and on December 21 in the US.
