WARNING: THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS FOR AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR
If you're still trying to recover from that heartbreaking ending to Avengers: Infinity War, this news is probably not going to help.
After Thanos defeated the heroes and put his plan into action, activating the Infinity Gauntlet to wipe out half of all life, many of the Avengers disappeared into atoms.
As they were vanishing, some of them managed some final words – with Peter Parker's exit being arguably the most tear-inducing.
But Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has now proved us all wrong on that front, because he's revealed what Groot's final line was before he disappeared – and it will shatter your heart.
When a fan asked Gunn on Twitter what Groot (Vin Diesel)'s last line was, the director revealed that it was in fact "Dad".
What to Read Next
Seeing as Groot was with Rocket (Bradley Cooper) at the time he 'died', it appears that he was addressing his fellow Guardian.
And the news that Groot might think of Rocket as his dad has destroyed Marvel fans:
It seems Gunn's telling the truth too, as he later tweeted: "It was in the screenplay."
And we do already know that for every film featuring Groot, a special "Groot version" of the script is produced where every one of his lines is printed in English.
Only Gunn and Vin Diesel, who voices Groot, ever get this script, so we're going to have to take Gunn's word for it here.
If you fancy going to have your heart broken all over again at the cinema you'll have a lot of company, as Infinity War has already taken over $1 billion at the worldwide box office in just 11 days.
