Robin Hood's first trailer has arrived.
Taron Egerton stars as Robin, who bands together with Jamie Foxx's commander Little John to take on the corrupt Sheriff of Nottingham (Ben Mendelsohn) in this new take on the classic story.
Otto Bathurst directs – he's best known for Peaky Blinders and the 'National Anthem' episode of Black Mirror. Yep, that's the one with the Prime Minister and the pig. This'll be his feature directorial debut.
The trailer has a kind of Assassin's Creed/Game of Thrones/Kingsman/King Arthur vibe with lots of slo-mo action and one liners. For better or worse.
The movie promises action and romance, with Eve Hewson playing Robin's love interest. There might be a bit of comedy too, with Tim Minchin as Friar Tuck. Jamie Dornan also joins the Merry Men as Will Scarlett.
There have been a lot of Robin Hood movies before. We should know, we've ranked them. So we're hoping that Bathurst can find a new approach. Talking to EW, it sounds like Egerton felt the same.

"I was approached not long after the first Kingsman movie had come out, and my initial response, to be totally honest, was 'Why?'," he said. "[But Otto] told me he wanted to do something entirely revisionist, something that can't be tied down to a mediaeval universe."
Robin Hood opens in cinemas on November 23, 2018.
