"Wolverine is actually like 5'1", or 5'2" or something," said Payne (via TV Guide). "And Hugh, he was brilliant, but he was much, much, much bigger.
"If they did recast the Wolverine part, I'd be well up for it."
Sure, he's small and hairy enough, but there's still one small issue...
Yes, after recently retiring as Wolverine, Jackman could be returning as Wolverine.
According to Sebastian Stan, who plays Bucky Barnes aka the Winter Soldier in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Jackman is thinking about a potential X-Men and Avengers crossover.
Jackman previously said that following Logan, he would definitely be hanging up his adamantium claws after nine movies playing the superhero.
However, news of his potential return comes after Disney bought 21st Century Fox's entertainment assets for $52.4 billion (£39bn).
Before the Disney/Fox deal was officially confirmed, Jackman revealed: "It's interesting, because for the whole 17 years I kept thinking, 'That would be so great', like I would love to see, particularly, Iron Man and the Hulk and Wolverine together.
"And every time I saw an Avengers movie, I could just see Wolverine in the middle of all of them like, punching them all on the head.
"But it was like, 'Oh well, that's not gonna happen,' and it was interesting just when I first saw that headline – it was just the possibility of it and who knows what's gonna happen, obviously – I was like, 'Hang on!'
"But I think, unfortunately, the ship has sailed for me, but for someone else I would like to see Wolverine in there."
