A year after Zayn Malik joined forces with Taylor Swift for their hit single 'I Don't Wanna Live Forever', it appears the former One Direction singer might be collaborating with Taylor's BFF Selena Gomez on new music.

And not just any music, we might add. But the music for the upcoming Disney live-action version of Aladdin.

While the Guy Ritchie-directed movie might not be out until May 2019, the internet is already awash with rumours that Gomez and Malik are working together on a single for the film.

The rumours began last week when a Selena Gomez fan account speculated the 25-year-old was working with the Bradford-born star.

While nothing has been confirmed by the singers' teams, it hasn't stopped the Twitter universe from jumping on the bandwagon to express their excitement at the possibility of a Malik-Gomez collaboration.

After all, Selena did say earlier this year she was dedicating 2018 to her one true love – music.

If the rumours of a collaboration do prove to be true, we take it as proof that rubbing a magic lamp to fulfil wishes really does work.

Newcomer Mena Massoud will take on the lead as Aladdin in the movie, and Will Smith will play the iconic Genie. Naomi Scott, who's best known for her role in the Power Rangers reboot, will also star as Princess Jasmine. Here's everything we know so far about the film.

Aladdin is due to be released on May 24, 2019.
