We're not going to say it was the biggest cinematic disappointment this year, but it's fair to say that Justice League didn't hit the Wonder Woman-level heights we expected it to.

Which is why it shouldn't come as a surprise to hear that the DCEU's creative team has undergone a pretty big shake-up, as Justice League producer Jon Berg jumps ship.

Following the lacklustre performance of the DCEU's latest offering at the box office – it hasn't even broke even yet, guys – Berg will be leaving the comic book's film production division.

According to Variety, Warner Brothers (Justice League's distributor) is planning to completely restructure its DC Films operation in the New Year, although no replacement has been lined up.

Fingers crossed the move will signal an improvement in DC's film fortunes – both figuratively and literally.

One way that the DCEU could ensure its latest solo spin-offs make money, as well as delight fans of course, is to start thinking about smaller budgets – well, that's what we suggest anyway.

Wonder Woman, one of this year's biggest success stories, made $822 million worldwide and had a production budget half the size of Justice League at $149 million. Good going, Patti.

Thankfully, it seems as though they might have taken our advice, as the directors attached to Aquaman and Shazam! – James Wan and David F Sandberg – have a proven track record of making highly successful films on a very low budget.
