Davy Jones's cameo in Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge was so secret, even Bill Nighy didn't know about it.
Nighy appeared as the captain of the Flying Dutchman in Dead Man's Chest and At World's End, seemingly being killed off at the end of the third movie. However, that didn't stop Davy making an appearance in the post-credits scene for Salazar's Revenge.
The scene saw the reunited Will and Elizabeth sleeping peacefully before Davy Jones is seen creeping into the room. But, surprise, it's a dream as Will wakes with a start, only for the camera to slowly pan down to some barnacles on the floor.
So while you don't actually see Nighy at all and Davy Jones appears to be entirely CGI, it's still a bit of a surprise that the actor had no clue his character had made a return, not finding out until a cab driver told him a week ago.
"The cab driver said, 'Are you doing the next one?' I said, 'No, I didn't know there was a next one'. He said, 'Well, you were in the last one'. I said, 'No, I wasn't'. He said, 'Yes, you were'. So that's all I know," Nighy told Empire.
We speculated that the post-credits scene could open the day for a return for Davy Jones in the future, potentially leaving the door ajar for Will and Elizabeth to return.

And it seems Nighy would be well up for a return to Pirates of the Caribbean.
"I'd love to be in [another Pirates movie]. I'd be there like a shot. But I have not been approached," he confirmed.
We'll have to wait and see if there's actually a sixth outing for Captain Jack to see if Davy Jones is going to return from the dead...
