Kaya Scodelario has described the gender age gap in Hollywood as "f**king weird", and revealed that "nine times out of ten, my character is with a guy twice my age".
The former Skins star is the only female member of an otherwise all-male main cast in Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge, and admitted that the gender double standards in the movie industry do annoy her.
"It does," she told The Guardian."It's like there's this expiry date for us and it's such bullshit, because my mind isn't going to change. If anything, I will grow and I will learn and I will be better."
The 25-year-old London-born actress says she was very "relieved" to find out that her love interest in the Disney franchise was Henry Turner, played by 27-year-old Brenton Thwaites.
"I was concerned that they would want me to play a romantic part against someone in their 50s and that would be heartbreaking," she continued.
"So I was extremely relieved that Brenton [Thwaites – who plays the son of Orlando Bloom's character Will Turner] is only a year older than me.

Scodelario also said that she'd like to produce independent movies with female crews, which she can hopefully fund in the future by starring in big Hollywood blockbusters such as Pirates of the Caribbean.
"Doing a movie like this means I can finance my own independent movies and, eventually, that's what I want to do, I want to produce and I want to work with female crews," she added.
Scodelario stars alongside Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem and Geoffrey Rush in Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge, which opens in cinemas next Friday (May 26).
